Pack 195
Announces the Final Glory Project
Cub Scout Pack 195 of
Hockley has launched their Final Glory Project to collect and retire worn
American Flags.
Scouts
from the Webelos Cobra Den have been learning about being good citizens, the
history of the U.S.
flag and flag etiquette including how to dispose of the flag properly, when
necessary. The Scouts began to notice flags in the area that deserved to
be respectfully retired. Webelos Scout Wyatt said , “American flags
deserve to be taken down when they are torn because it is disrespectful to our
country to let them fly that way.”
The Webelos
would like to encourage residents and businesses in Waller
County and Northwest Harris
County to inspect your
flag. If your flag is worn, torn, faded or badly soiled, contact Pack 195
to arrange drop off or pick up of your flag. Please let the scouts know
about its history, for example: Where has it flown? How long? Any memorable
events happen at that site? This information will be used in the retirement
ceremony.
Pack 195
invites you join them to honor our nation’s flag at a formal Flag Retirement
Ceremony on December 19th at 6:00 pm at the Kleb Woods Pavillion on
FM 2920. For more information about Pack 195’s Final Glory Project,
please contact Committee Member Pat McKeever at 281-924-2509.
